What are election workers?

Election workers are people that work at the polling places on Election Day.   All election workers must be at their assigned polling place by 6:00 a.m. on Election Day.   Your day ends when the polling place closes at 7:00 p.m. and all poll closing duties have been completed .   You may not leave the precinct premises at any time during Election Day. Plan to wear comfortable clothes and bring food, drinks and medication as needed.  Duties vary and may include standing, bending, stooping, and lifting approximately 15-20 pounds, requires normal vision and manual dexterity.

 

Positions:

Clerk - Is granted authority by Florida Statutes to supervise the activities at the polling place; performs pre and post election duties; operates voter check-in equipment (pay $150 per day plus $30 for supply pick up/delivery).

Assistant Clerk - Assists the Clerk with their duties on Election Day; operates voter check-in equipment (pay $130 per day).

EViD Operator - Operates voter check-in equipment; greets voters; checks photo and signature ID; issues voting passes; Issues ballots (pay $115 per day).

Deputy - Must be deputized by the Sheriff's office at training; monitors and enforces the 100' no solicitation area outside of the polling place; greets voters and assists in maintaining order at the polling place (pay $100 per day).

Voting System Specialist - Trains extensively on and manages all voting equipment in the polling place (pay $150 per day).

Assistant Voting System Specialist - Assists the Voting System Specialist in their duties (pay $130 per day).

Alternate - Trained in specific job duties; called when a regularly scheduled poll worker cannot perform his/her duties (pay according to position).

All election workers selected to work are required by law to complete a minimum of one training class of approximately 3 hours prior to each election. Pay for training classes is $25.00 per class.
