Military & Overseas Voters
Federal Write-In Ballot
Florida allows the use of the Federal Write-in Absentee Ballot (FWAB) by all UOCAVA voters. UOCAVA voters are members of the Uniformed Services (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps and Coast Guard, the commissioned corps of the Public Health Service and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration), member of the Merchant Marine, spouses and dependent of those active duty members, and United States citizens residing overseas.
If you are registered to vote, have requested a Vote by Mail ballot and have not received your Vote by Mail ballot, the FWAB is a back-up or emergency ballot used for any federal and certain state and local elections. A FWAB may be obtained from a Voting Assistance Officer (VAO) or from the Federal Voting Assistance Program at www.fvap.gov.
If you are unsure of your registration or your ballot status you may review this information using the Free Access System, you may also contact our office, complete the online VOTE BY MAIL (Absentee) REQUEST FORM, or complete a Federal Post Card Application available on the FVAP website www.fvap.gov.
Deadlines for submitting the FWAB are the same as your Vote by Mail ballot. If you receive your Vote by Mail ballot after submitting the voted FWAB, you may also vote and return the Vote by Mail ballot. If both ballots are received by the Elections office by the deadline, only the Vote by Mail ballot will be counted.
